Permissions Guide

Grimoire needs Discord permissions only for the systems you enable. Give the bot enough access to operate, then keep its role hierarchy clean.

Core Messaging​

  • View Channels lets Grimoire see configured channels.
  • Send Messages lets Grimoire post panels, logs, and responses.
  • Embed Links is required for the bot's branded embeds.
  • Read Message History is useful for reaction roles, starboard, logs, and transcript-related workflows.
  • Attach Files is required for welcome image cards and file output.

Role Management​

Manage Roles is required for verification, auto roles, sticky roles, role menus, Role Authority, booster rewards, and gang roles.

Grimoire can only manage roles below its highest role. Move Grimoire's role above:

  • verification roles
  • auto roles
  • sticky roles
  • role menu target roles
  • booster reward roles
  • gang tier and member roles
  • roles delegated through Role Authority

Never put Grimoire below the roles it must assign or remove.

Moderation​

  • Manage Messages is needed for purge/delete workflows and safety cleanup.
  • Moderate Members is needed for timeout actions in anti-spam and Status Blacklist.
  • Ban Members is needed for Dangerous Admin Tools such as Mass Unban.
  • View Audit Log improves server log actor context.

Guild And Reaction Features​

  • Manage Guild is needed for invite tracking.
  • Add Reactions is needed for reaction-role style workflows.
  • Manage Channels is needed for ticket channels and statistic channel renaming.

Intents​

  • Guild Members intent: member join, leave, role, and roster workflows.
  • Message Content intent: keyword responses, anti-link, and anti-spam.
  • Guild Presences intent: Status Blacklist live custom status detection.
