Role Hierarchy

Discord role hierarchy controls what Grimoire can assign, remove, or moderate.

Likely Causes​

  • Target role is above Grimoire's highest role.
  • Target role is managed by an integration.
  • User target has a higher role than the bot can moderate.

Check With Diagnostics​

/diagnostics permissions
/diagnostics module module:verification
/diagnostics module module:role_authority

Exact Fixes​

  • Drag Grimoire's bot role above verification, auto-role, sticky-role, booster, role menu, and gang roles.
  • Do not ask Grimoire to manage integration-managed roles.
  • For moderation, ensure the target member is moderatable by the bot.

Common Symptoms​

  • Verification role is not being added.
  • Auto role does not apply.
  • Booster reward role does not apply.
  • Gang priority/member roles do not sync.
